      Isn’t this a bit !orphancrushing@lemmy.world?

      All kids in London get free bus travel and also free tube until I think age 10. I’m surprised other cities aren’t already doing it. Also if governments didn’t keep selling off council homes, people wouldn’t spend years stuck in temporary accommodation.

      These are kids who are in temporary housing, so they’re not homeless in the strictest sense. But if they were in that situation to begin with, they probably don’t have any way to pay bus fares.

    Good.

    I’d rather things were done at a true national level, holistically with many other things, bringing in the systemic change we so desperately need to solve homelessness and beyond, but I suppose life has taught me that that will never happen.

    So, if my city can at least do one small thing to help one small group for a few years, good.
