I do share a concern with these comments though. I never comment here, but I do like laughing at tankie’s bullshit sometimes. However, these types of spaces are very easy and often prone to right-wing infiltration. And they can slowly but surely turn into a Nazi bar, and I think this is something to look out for.

Again, I’ve never comment around here, and I don’t always check the comments. I’m not too familiar with the community, but I have seen some concerning things here and there. And in general lately I feel like Lemmy has taken a more centrist right-wing bend. I think we’ve had another influx from Reddit. I’m not sure, but I am a bit concerned. I might just be overly concerned. Maybe it’s my anxiety disorder at play again. Still, I think it’s worth keeping an eye on.

I think there is more validity to this comment than is being given credit for, here.

If it helps, I don’t think I’ve run across any obviously right wing comments on Lemmy in a long time, at least not any that haven’t been ratioed to hell and back.

Another fun story is c/conservative. It was started by a conservative, iirc, and for reasons I can’t fully recall, is now modded by leftists, and the whole community’s purpose is calling out conservative nonsense.

The social fabric of Lemmy seems to be very anti-conservative, which is really refreshing for me, at least.

I personally hate that people thought it was appropriate to ransack the one conservative community. People complain about the tankies banning people for politics but then the admins go and take over a community for political reasons. As long as they weren’t actively breaking the rules I don’t see why there couldn’t be a conservative community.

It is ok for someone to have different political views. People these days are way to comfortable creating echo chambers that discourage critical thinking.

Honest question. What alternative perspective do you think they could bring that would heighten discourse?

I personally don’t think there is such a thing. Not with modern online conservatives.

I have a million other avenues for listening to conservatives if I want to. I don’t need them here.

Not defending communist dictators is unequal to drinking the cool aid in a nazi bar. You could do one without the other. You don‘t, tho.

what makes this a nazi bar?

and if it is one (it isn’t), why are you here? or is everyone but you a nazi?
