Is there an option to use alternative routes - no motorways in the app?

If so, how can I use it?

At the minute I’m watching for motorways and then veer away from the directions comaps is guiding me, and then inevitably have to listen to the rerouting message for a minute or two… “Recalculating the route”

Telling me to go back…

Thanks again, it looks to be what I looking for. It’s in settings -> routing options

I’m finished the drive today, but where I love, it’s nicer to drive to places (and possibly as quick) avoiding the motorways etc.

What if we don’t want to avoid freeways, but rather use side roads just when they’re faster and more fuel efficient? The app often will try to push be towards freeways no matter what and it’s very frustrating when I know there’s better routes

Well obviously the routing engine already tries to find the fastest route. But there is no average speed traffic data Comaps harvests from its users, like Google etc. do, so it is only based on max speed and some heuristics. At least for now. Some limited near-realtime traffic functionality is planned.

I don’t want to be the snarky guy here, but my point is that it isn’t obvious. In my local example, the backroads are still faster even when following speed limits due to being more direct.

Plus, there really ought to be an option to set routes to avoid ALPR’s. That data is definitely available, since Deflock also uses OSM
