I used a vertically oriented mouse like that for a while when I had RSI. Also mapped mouse keys to the keyboard with autohotkey, just for variation. These days have a kensington ‘expert mouse’ trackball and on my laptop its the trackpad like everyone else.

Got a cheap bluetooth/2.5Ghz trackball for my laptop, and wow, those are SO nice when you don’t have a lot of space to work with.

I hope some mid-level enthusiast trackballs that aren’t ridiculously boutique become a thing soon haha.

As soon as I started my 9-5 job, my wrist started hurting. Fortunately, my workplace bought me some vertical mice and it’s all I needed. It took some getting used to and I can’t play FPSes with them, but I’m not playing those for 8 hours a day, so I just switch back when needed.

  • I’d want to get a finger trackball, but they’re kind of expensive. Something like Kensington Orbit.

Recently I got a mouse. One with side scroll wheel, but just a normal one. I am honestly disappointed. First 2 days I found myself being less accurate with it than TrackPoint. And it also feels less comfortable to use.
It’s only better if I have a second monitor to the side.

Also, I wish I could somehow get easily varying sensitivity. Say, the more I press, the slower it moves. Or even just such 2 speed selector. Maybe it would get hard to predict with that pressure idea.

This is a masterpiece. I immediately sent it to a colleague who’s using the vertical kind of mouse.
