my kid was playing on a swing in a community park in a neighboring town (an expensive place to live). She found a big baggie of cash, looked like mostly singles, but it was maybe 2" thick. I told her to put it back and not mess with it. Maybe it was someones birthday money, maybe it was some other nefarious source. no matter what I don’t need that in my life, I definitely don’t need my kid dealing with it.

You did the right thing. Wait until that local dealer gets more successful and starts leaving larger sums at that dead drop.

I know because this already happened to me, I returned it. The owner was very surprised that the money was not missing when I gave him the wallet but didn’t even pay me a coffee, no regerts tho.

A month or two ago I found $40 someone had taped up to the bus stop with a sticker. You better believe I snatched that shit up. Who am I to question the ways of people who go around leaving money at bus stops with stickers?

I would fulfill my legal obligation by reporting that cash as missing to the police, if not claimed I get to legally keep it (the only reason why I would do this is because that sort of money tends to come with severe problems)

A wallet like that doesn’t belong to someone that calls the police. I’d just keep walking.

It’s just like Jesus said: “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and render unto me all of that cash in that inexplicably bulging wallet over there.”

Check for ID; if none, count and photograph it before turning it in to the police department.

    which god?

some would teach that it is yours and should be taken, for a wide variety of reasons. some wpuld teach to give it to the needy as well as everything else you own. some would teach that it has no value and to leave it to nature. some would teach it is evil and must be destroyed. some would say to offer at as sacrifice. some would say to enshrine it.

there’s so many ways this could go.
