I was doing some investigation into where all my tech is based and Remarkable e-ink tablets are based out of Oslo, Norway.
I love my Remarkable Paper Pro and was thinking of getting the Move 2 so this is good news to me. Thought I’d share.

I have a Remarkable 2, and it has root access and through toltec you can install some open source software on it. Not too bad, but its main interface and format is proprietary, and what you can do with FOSS on it is pretty limited.
They seem more interested in getting users subscribed to their cloud. Syncing your notes in any local way is not encouraged or supported, nor is OCR :(
I also had a bad experience with their support - I was asking if I could purchase a tiny rubber foot that fell of the back of mine - their reply was that they saw the date of purchase and recommended I just send it in and get a refurbished one.
Thank you. I need a new e-ink e-reader, and I’ve been researching. These are constantly rated highly, but they are very expensive, and I have no need or desire for expensive note syncing subscriptions (or subscriptions of any kind).
They are e-ink tablets, not e-readers. They’re meant for note taking and annotating PDFs.
