You’re so far into the academic element of this you’re missing the point entirely. You’re saying that a new nation in a relatively underdeveloped area of the world was capable of keeping out undesirable elements but they don’t have border control? It was loose, sure, but it existed. All I’m saying is you can die on a hill that’s achievable.
