Nice … I look forward to the next generation of AI counter counter measures that will make the internet an even more unbearable mess in order to funnel as much money and control to a small set of idiots that think they can become masters of the universe and own every single penny on the planet.

1·1 year agoThey keep climbing the ladder of fascism and authoritarianism … and everyone is just standing back telling themselves … ‘they’re not going to go any higher … right?’ … then they keep climbing another rung
It’s creeping closer and closer to outright fascism and everyone is still arguing that it isn’t like that and it won’t go that far. How long is everyone going to wait until it’s too late?
Your lungs have a scent when you exhale air … your brain filters out that smell … your senses know its there, your brain just ignores it - it’s all automatic
Same thing with the ‘taste’ of your mouth and saliva
Same thing with tinnitus … everyone has it to a degree … that little ringing in your hearing … your brain just filters it out
You have a natural blind spot right in the middle of your vision, the edges of your vision is also uneven and you can only accurately focus on about 10% of your sight in front of you … you brain just automatically makes you think that everything is in focus everywhere … the edges are never in focus … you move your sight to what you thought was edge, now its in the focused part and it makes you believe that everything was in focus the whole time … your brain just manipulates all this to make you think you have a clear focused vision 180 degrees in front of you … but really only about 10% is in focus and there is a black blind spot in the middle of it … your brain also automatically fills in that black spot every time
We have imperfect senses … our brain just plays tricks on us to make us think and believe that we have this awesome perfect sensory system … it isn’t perfect and it isn’t as great as we think it is.

Casual UK@feddit.uk•How I (US) make tea when my British friend comes over to visitEnglish
0·2 years agoI’m Canadian and we have a long heritage with English things … especially tea. But our brothers and sisters are American so we have a lot of overlap in our culture.
I grew up in northern Ontario in an indigenous community. Mom and dad were traditional people who were born and raised in the bush. They lived on your old English black tea. We treated it like a survival food and basically cooked it like it was coffee. All my life tea was made by boiling water in a large metal 4 litre tea pot and once there was a rolling boil, you dropped in eight tea bags and let it bubble for a minute until it all turned into a deep reddish liquid. The best tea was always in the first half an hour, after that it was like drinking a really strong coffee.
I drank that from the time I was a baby … really! I remember seeing mom fill a baby bottle with warm tea, canned milk and a bit of sugar and feed it to my baby brothers. I assume she did the same to me.
Once I started living away from home, I drank less tea and more coffee. But I always love my black tea.
Never order it in a restaurant in Canada. Half the time a cheap little restaurant will just use hot tap water and drop the shittiest tea bag thats been sitting on the shelf for years to make your brew.
The only public place to get good tea is at Tim Hortons, the Canadian coffee chain. They actually make the kind of tea I grew up with, really strong brewed tea that is kept fresh regularly. Their coffee is shit but their tea is excellent … at least to me.

If the developers of Lemmy are so terrible … why would anyone want to use their software, support them or even have anything to do with them?
Conversely with the Lemmy developers, if they are made out to be so hostile and unlikable to a vast part of the Lemmy community … then why are the Lemmy developers even making any of their software available and open to everyone else? If there is so much animosity between people, why would any group share their software or their products with anyone they are opposed to?
I get the hate that people have for anarchists and communists but if there really was a full on hatred between groups … why would the developers make their stuff available for others … and why would others want to use the software?
I’m balancing my opinion here because I do enjoy using Lemmy but at the same time I’ve been looking in who the developers of Piefed are and what their history is and I’ll be joining their software as well.
