  • Story time, third grader me would have done this no questions about it.

Having to solve multiplication and recently had learned the table of 9 trick i was looking if there where other tricks I could find.

The first one was number x10 and what i observed is that if you do times ten. You take the number. And you put 1 “0” behind it.

    Interesting…. I thought

But the next one multiplied with a single digit so how could i apply that theory.

Simple. 1+0 is 1, which is a single digit so if you multiply by 10, you actually multiply by 1+0 which means you put 1 zeros behind it

Multiple by 2 is short for multiply By 2+0, put 2 zeros behind it

Multiply by 9, put 9 zeros behind it.

I definitely knew this is not what we had learned, and knew there was a “chance” i was going to fail all of these, i also even knew some of the actual answers however i also believed there was a chance that i found an alternative equally good solution, and I consciously decided to take that risk because I wanted to know if i was right. Maybe I discovered something new

My teacher was not happy to say the least, and in that (actual) furry did treat me unfair and it still bothers me. Because i got a zero for the assignment… while i was very certain that the 2 occurrences of x10 did have the appropriate solution.

  • I am inclined to agree with that sentiment.

However I don’t think thats the full story, there are plenty report of this happening on librewolf but I could not find any for firefox with fingerprint protection enabled, neither did i find any for tor (though sites not working on tor is expected and may just not get reported)

Its seems to me that librewolf has a very unique custom implementation of anti-fingerprinting that is not used elsewhere, ironically that means it could be used as an identifier of its own.

In the larger context this also isn’t just about one website. Claude isn’t trying to obtain any fingerprints and simply expects time to progress.

Plenty of other smaller sites that we don’t know might be affected.

I think they are neglecting a real issue because the bug report about it happens, by coincidence, be an llm site.

  • I hope you are right but i find that the desire to benefit can distract from thinking things trough.

Something i have also considered is that, if we somehow did it and can retire in a real enlightened human world, i would no longer belong. I was born and matured under the current system and that will continue to affect how i think and perceive the world even with my best intentions in mind.

I suspect that as long as we live we will carry some of the toxicity within us and only those born in the new world will truly be able to be free of it.

  • Call me realist but our sun will die in about 5 billion years taking earth with it.

The chance that the human species or any of our constructs/ideas wil survive that long or longer is immensely small considering we have only been around for 300.000 years. The chance we do that and somehow still care to divide ourselves into different nations and cultures is 0.

  • Is it that important to you that we ourselves live to see it?

Your previous comment here also mentioned “it won’t be anytime soon” somehow assuming that that means we can neglect to express the ideals of it?

Either humanity gets there, or we won’t. Some people will do whatever they can to make sure we get a closer. Because if we don’t ever get there, why even continue the species at all?

  • I am not saying its not real. I am saying its a human construct. Just like laws, religion, culture, nations.

They are created by us and dynamically evolve with our needs. We have full control over how they work and can overhaul them entirely.

For example, you may have heard how money used to be backed by physical gold, but then we abandoned that in 1971 and now its backed by nothing. Its simply changing the rules as needed.

Another overhaul is long overdue. The issue is that we rarely agree on how or what to change and that the choices are almost always made by centralized powers.
