The guy sounds certifiable, but also as a rule of thumb, I don’t trust companies that sound like they were founded by Lex Luthor
It’s funny, I think hand counts might not be a terrible idea. Makes it so you’d have to compromise thousands of people, rather than a single database, not that this dude isn’t more than a little nutty.
Canada still uses paper ballots, and the election results are usually confirmed the same day. I’m not sure why people are so afraid of the thoroughly-tested method.
And it’s not even like you have to give up the convenience of counting by machine. They make and sell ballot tabulating machines that are widely used to count the paper ballots in Canadian elections.
To be fair, Canada has a boat load more experience, existing infrastructure, and a fraction of the population.
Infrastructure is nothing, it’s just hiring people to count and people to observe, it all happens at the same place and you do it at the same place as people vote. Population doesn’t matter either, you just have more districts to count, and more people counting.
You’re literally talking about Infrastructure when you say “just hire more people”. There’s also a lot more to it than “just have more bodies” and simplifying it to that point is actually problematic.
I’ve scrutineered hand counts in Canadian elections. Nothing is perfect, but it’s a great system. Recounts are easy. It’s easy for each voter to know that their ballot will be counted properly. Each party can monitor the count and raise concerns if anything seems untoward.
But for a guy obsessed with fraudulent election counts, he certainly picked one of the most falsifiable methods.
