• Sailing a serious ocean by John Kretschmer (or any other Kretschmer books, he’s a great storyteller)
• The Long Way by Bernard Moitessier
• Maiden Voyage by Tania Aebi

As far as fiction, not really a “sailing” novel, but Moby Dick is a favorite of mine.

Ok, that makes sense. I was thinking you went Mississippi all the way to the Gulf. You step your mast in Mobile?

Not if you are chartering in the BVI. They’ll pretty much give anybody (with valid credit card) a boat down there!

How did you decide on the Mississippi route? I know a lot of people do the Tennessee-Tombigbee.
